SUMMARY

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Egerton University, a Master of Science in Electronics from Kenyatta University, and a PhD in Physics from the University of South Africa. I am a researcher and lecturer in the Department of Physics at Egerton University, where my academic and research focus lies in investigating novel materials for next-generation renewable energy solutions. My work aims to address global challenges such as achieving net-zero carbon emissions and developing strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation. Over the years, I have published numerous scholarly articles in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals that reflect my contributions to this field. In addition to my academic endeavours, I am the co-founder and Executive Director of a UV-LED water project that focuses on providing clean water to marginalized communities. This initiative highlights my commitment to addressing societal needs through technological innovation. I also serve as the Principal Investigator for a UNESCO-TWAS-funded project (the Seed Grant for New African Principal Investigators (SG-NAPI)), which explores the application of novel materials in renewable energy. One of my recent achievements includes being the overall winner of the 1st SEGATE-COMPASS AI/ML Challenge Competition in 2024. This recognition awarded me a cash prize and led to my appointment as a Research Scholar at the University of Michigan. Over the past five years, I have published several research articles in leading international journals and presented my findings at numerous international conferences and workshops. I have also received awards and research grants for my work. I am actively involved in leadership at both the departmental and institutional levels. I currently serve as the Chairman of the Departmental Postgraduate Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Curriculum Review Committee for the Bachelor of Science Physics Programmes. Additionally, I am a member of the Faculty Committee for the Board of Postgraduate Studies and the IEEE P2520.1 Working Group. I also hold editorial responsibilities for different international journals. As a Quality and Standards Faculty Board Member at Egerton University, I am critical in ensuring academic excellence. Through my research, leadership, and service, I am dedicated to advancing knowledge and developing sustainable solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges.
