My journey from Kenya to the world stage in limnology, wetland and fisheries sciences has been nothing short of extraordinary. Through the prestigious Orange Knowledge Program (OKP), offered by the Government of the Netherlands, I earned the rare opportunity to join the Joint International Master’s Degree in Limnology and Wetlands Management. This program, offered by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Austria, IHE Delft in the Netherlands, and Egerton University in Kenya, has been a life-changing experience that has reshaped my understanding of global water and Aquatic resources management.
At BOKU, I was immersed in the latest Limnological research and cutting-edge technology, opening my eyes to new possibilities in sustainable science. My time at IHE Delft pushed me to tackle global water challenges head-on, equipping me with innovative solutions that transcend borders. Returning to Egerton University, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and a deep commitment to applying this knowledge to Kenya’s unique water and Aquatic resources management efforts. This program has not only expanded my academic horizons but also solidified my dedication to protecting our planet’s vital water resources.
This journey has been a powerful affirmation that with the right opportunities, we can achieve remarkable things. I am profoundly grateful to the OKP, the universities, and everyone who has supported me on this path. As I look to the future, I am excited to contribute my skills and insights to creating a sustainable world, starting right here in Kenya.
