InVision Africa Photo Competition for Student


We are excited to announce the launch of the InVision Africa Photo Competition for students, a project of the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) and the African Studies Centre (ASC) at Michigan State University that seeks to showcase, inspire, and contribute to positive images of and stories about Africa in the context of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The project will be open to student photographers and students with an interest in photography from 10 African universities that are part of the AAP consortium.

Dear AAP Consortium Members, 

I hope this message finds you well. We are excited to announce the launch of the InVision Africa Photo Competition for students, a project of the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) and the African Studies Centre (ASC) at Michigan State University that seeks to showcase, inspire, and contribute to positive images of and stories about Africa in the context of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The project will be open to student photographers and students with an interest in photography from 10 African universities that are part of the AAP consortium

Competition Details: 

Theme: This year's competition theme is "Reshaping Africa's Narrative." We invite students to capture and share images that challenge stereotypes, celebrate African achievements, and explore the continent's vibrant cultures, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.Priority areas: While it is not mandatory students may collaborate with researchers at their universities to develop a photography project that is aligned to AAP research priority areas, or they may work on it alone.

Eligibility: The competition is open to students from all AAP Consortium member universities.

Submission Deadline: Participants have until April 30, 2024, at 10:59 PM (GMT) to submit their entries.

Prizes: Exciting prizes and opportunities await the winners, including the chance to have their work featured in exhibitions and publications.

Submission Guidelines: Detailed submission guidelines and instructions can be found on the InVision Africa website.

This competition provides a platform for students to express their creativity, challenge preconceptions, and contribute to a more positive image of Africa. We encourage you to spread the word among your students and faculty members, inspiring them to participate and share their unique perspectives.

Together, we can reshape Africa's narrative through the power of photography. We look forward to receiving inspiring entries from your institutions and celebrating the talent and creativity of Africa's youth.
