NOTICE TO STUDENTS

RE: CLEARANCE FROM HALLS OF RESIDENCE AND PHASED RE-OPENING DATES FOR 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR

Following a decision by the Government to re-open Universities on 5th October 2020, the University has embarked on various preparatory activities in line with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

CLEARANCE FROM HALLS OF RESIDENCE

Students who left their belongings in the Halls of Residence when the university closed in March 2020 are required to collect them as scheduled below:

8.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.

This will enable us carry out preparatory activities. The hostel staff will be available to clear you. The

University shall NOT be responsible for any items not collected on the scheduled days.  Laid down COVID-19 prevention guidelines including wearing of face masks, sanitizing and social distancing MUST be observed by all students while on campus.

 

PHASED RESUMPTION DATES

Egerton University wishes to inform all our continuing students that phased re-opening for completion of 2019/2020 pending learning activities and examinations disrupted by institution closure in March 2020 will take place as follows:

  • NJORO CAMPUS
GROUP I:ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND KEY DATES
  1. Y4S2 (All degree students on 4 year programmes)
  2. Y5S2 (BVM and Engineering),
  3. BVM and Engineering students Y4S2,
  4. All non- Medical degree programmes Y1S2, Dip Y3S2, Dip. Y2S2, Dip. Y1 S2,
  5. All continuing Postgraduate students that were on coursework session in March 2020 and have not done the End of Semester examinations.
  • Reporting dates: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October 2020
  • Completion of pending lectures, pending practical sessions and Continuous Assessment Tests: Monday 19th – Friday 30th October 2020.  
  • End of Semester Examinations: Monday 2nd – Friday 13th November 2020 (2 weeks).
GROUP II: 
  1. 2018 cohort (Y2S1)
  2. 2017 cohort (Y3S1)
  • Reporting dates: Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November 2020
  • Revision/Preparations for End of Semester examinations: 16th – 20th November 2020.
  • End of Semester I Examinations:  20th November – Friday 4th December 2020 (2 weeks) 

Note for Veterinary medicine students in Group I and Group II: Practical examinations will start one week earlier.

 

  • NAKURU TOWN CAMPUS COLLEGE
GROUP I: ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND KEY DATES
  1. Faculty of Commerce (Y4S2),
  2. FEDCOS (Y4S1, Y4S2)
  3. FASS (Y4S1, Y4S2)
  4. Faculty of Law (Y4, Y3, Y2, Y1(2019),
  5. All continuing Postgraduate students that were on coursework session in March 2020 and have not done the End of Semester examinations.
 
  • Reporting dates: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October 2020.
  • Completion of pending lectures, pending practical sessions (where applicable) and Continuous Assessment Tests: Monday 19th - Friday 30th October 2020.
  • End of Semester Examinations: Monday 2nd – Friday 13th November 2020 (2 weeks).

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES:

 

 

Final year medical students (MBChB Y6 T1, Nursing Y4 T1, CMED-Y4 T1)

 

  • Reporting dates: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October 2020.
 

 

  • Learning activities: Term one from 19th October 2020.

GROUP II:

 

 
  1. Faculty of Commerce (Y1S2, Y3S2),
  2. FEDCOS (Y3S2, Y2S2)
  3. FASS (Y3S2, Y3S1)

 

 

  • Reporting dates: Sunday 15th November 2020
  • Completion of pending lectures, practical sessions (where applicable) and Continuous Assessment Tests:
  • Monday 16th -Friday 27th November 2020.
 

 

  • End of Semester Examinations: Friday 30th November – Friday 11th December 2020 (2 weeks).

 

  • NAIROBI CITY CAMPUS
ALL GROUP: ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES AND KEY DATES

All groups that were in year 4 Semester II (Finalist students) before the closure of the Nairobi City Campus.

 

 

  • End of Semester Examinations: Monday 2nd November – Friday 13th November 2020 (2 weeks).
  • The venue for the examination will be communicated in due course.

NOTE:

  • Online classes continue until 16th October 2020 for the groups that were in session in March 2020. For all groups, the student portal will close one week to the start of the examinations. All students are required to clear their fee balances before the closure of the portal.
  • Online learning for the 2020 first year group will continue as earlier communicated. The reporting dates for this group for face-to-face learning will be communicated in due course.

REQUIREMENTS

  • All students are advised to strictly adhere to the reporting schedule as specified above.
  • Students will be required to report with enough reusable/washable face masks, pocket sanitizers and ensure wearing of masks at all times.
  • Students are advised to strictly adhere to the Health and Safety Regulations and measures as directed by the University and Ministry of Health.
  • All students are advised to keep checking for information and updates on the University website.
