After a long wait due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we finally welcomed our first year students (2020 cohort) to campus on the 4th and 5th of January 2020. This was a great opportunity for the students to be fused into the Egerton community. The students were admitted, registered, underwent orientation, and were attending classes on the University e-learning online platform. These students finally have an opportunity for in person interactions with their faculty. I trust that they will find inspiration from the confines of a secure and safe campus teeming with abundant agricultural resources and amenities for their education.

We have once again come to the end of the year, yet 2020 is a year unlike any in recent memory. Anunrelenting world pandemic whose magnitude and full impact is yet to be ascertained has continued toravage nations big and small. As the students finish their examinations and the academic year of 2020 draws to a close, I would like to take a pause to thank the students, faculty, and staff for their hard work, commitment, and devotion to the University.

Egerton university (Crops, Horticulture & Soils Department) is partnering with the FutureWater and HiView (The Netherlands) to conduct a tailor-made training on Crop models and remote sensing for water management in agricultural systems. The training begins from 21st January, 2020.
