Egerton University has once again demonstrated its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and good governance by earning prestigious recognition in the 7th Edition of the Diversity and Inclusion Awards and Recognition (DIAR) Awards, held on 7 March 2025 in Nairobi.

The university was honoured in three key categories, securing the 2nd Runners-Up position in the Best Public University on PWD Representation category. Additionally, it was named a finalist in the Best Public University on Ethnic Representation and Best Public University on Good Governance, Transparency, and Accountability categories. These accolades highlight Egerton’s ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity, equity, and responsible governance within the institution.
The DIAR Awards is a distinguished platform that celebrates outstanding leadership in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, alongside Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). The awards recognize institutions, organizations, and individuals who drive positive societal change by promoting equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, women and girls, youth, and ethnic minorities, while also advancing environmental stewardship.
On 26 March 2025, the awards were officially presented to Egerton University’s management by Prof. Nzula Kitaka, Director of Marketing and Resource Mobilization. Receiving the awards on behalf of the university was Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage, accompanied by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance & Planning) Prof. Richard Mulwa and Registrar, Academic Affairs, Prof. Mwanarusi Saidi.
